How to Use the Calculator

Best for: Converting digital caliper readings (e.g., 2.375) into readable tape measure marks.

1. Click on the Decimal to Fraction tab.

2. Enter your decimal number into the Decimal Value (in) field (e.g., 2.375).

3. Select your desired accuracy from the Nearest Precision dropdown. The 1/16" mark is the most common standard for general woodworking and construction.

2. Fraction to Decimal Conversion

Best for: Taking fractional measurements from a hand-drawn plan (e.g., 5 3/8″) and entering them into CNC software or digital calculators.

1. Click on the Fraction to Decimal tab.

2. Enter the whole number into the Whole input field (e.g., if the length is 5 inches, enter 5. If it’s less than an inch, you can leave this blank).

3. Enter the numerator into the Num field and the denominator into the Den field (e.g., for 3/8, the numerator is 3 and the denominator is 8).
