🧠 Flash Mental Math – The Ultimate Brain Training

Welcome to Flash Mental Math, a powerful training tool designed to improve your calculation speed, concentration, and short-term memory. Based on methods used in professional mental arithmetic (Soroban) competitions, this game challenges you to process numbers faster than ever before.

⚙️ Game Settings & Configuration

Before you begin, customize the game to fit your skill level:

1. Difficulty (Digits):

  • 1 Digit (0-9): Perfect for beginners and warm-ups.

  • 2 Digits (10-99): The standard challenge level.

  • 3 Digits (100-999): For advanced mental math experts only!

2. Total Numbers: Choose how many numbers will appear in the sequence (default is 5). Increase this number to test your endurance and memory span.

3. Calculation Mode:

  • Addition Only (+): Great for building speed.

  • Add & Subtract (Mixed): A harder challenge. Note: Negative numbers will appear in Red (e.g., subtract the red numbers).

4. Speed (ms – Milliseconds): This controls how long each number stays on the screen.

  • 1000ms: (1 Second) – Normal speed.

  • 500ms: (0.5 Seconds) – Fast.

  • 200ms: (0.2 Seconds) – Lightning fast (Competition level).

5. Audio:

  • Silent: Pure visual focus.

  • Beep Sound: Plays a rhythm to help you synchronize your calculation.

How to Play

  1. Configure: Select your preferred settings (Digits, Count, Speed).

  2. Start: Click the START NOW button.

  3. Focus: A countdown (3-2-1) will appear. Get ready!

  4. Calculate: Watch the screen closely. As numbers flash and disappear, calculate the running total in your head.

  5. Answer: When the sequence finishes, type your result into the box and click Check Answer.

  6. Review: See if you were correct! The game will show you the full sequence so you can review your mistakes.

💡 Pro Tips for Success

  • Start Slow: Don’t rush. Start at 1000ms or 1500ms to get the rhythm right.

  • Don’t “Say” the Numbers: Try not to pronounce the numbers in your head (subvocalization). Instead, try to see the image of the number and add the value directly.

  • Relax Your Eyes: Staring too hard can make you blink and miss a number. Keep a soft, relaxed focus on the center of the display area.
